O/S Jack Support

In need of support ......

The collapse of this section must have given the previous owner quite a fright and in all honesty, it gave this latest owner quite a fright. However, it is just flat sections with little forming required and after cutting away the rot, it proved to be a straightforward repair.

I removed the pin, stripped it of rust with a wire-brush and because it would become part of the welded repair, brought it back to polished metal with sandpaper strip. I then cut the inner repair panel to size, drilled a large diameter hole and welded this in as the first repair, bringing the sill outer back to flush. I then cut a heavy gauge panel to match the original, drilled for plug-welding, filled the welds and then seam-welded the plate to the pin. All very satisfactory and relatively easy.
